Nepal has long been a destination for climbers, many of whom travel from all over the world for the chance to scale the Himalayan peaks. These travelers often rely on the strength of local, expert climbers to guide them through the difficult terrain.

Many of these locals are Sherpas, a nearly invisible community that has supported foreign climbers in Nepal for almost a century. Yet these experts are far from invincible -- they make up an estimated 40 percent of the climbing deaths on Everest, with little attention paid to how the tragedies affect their families. HuffPost RYOT's "After The Expedition" follows the story of a Sherpa widow, whose husband died while guiding a commercial trekking expedition in the Himalayans.
