The 2016 presidential election will go down in the history books for a multitude of reasons -- the astronomical toupee budgets, Twitter wars, bird endorsements -- but it could also be remembered as the most dramatic.

On Monday night, "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" captured the cinematic quality of the warring campaigns by debuting "Captain America: Civil War -- Presidential Election Version," a mashup of the upcoming Marvel movie and characters like Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton.

Trump, of course, dons the Iron Man suit as the "diabolical billionaire" facing off against an "all-American idealist" played by Bernie Sanders as Captain America. In the fake trailer, the "heroes" clash over campaign finances and their very different versions of the American Dream. But the two are no match for Hillary Clinton as the Scarlet Witch, who readily dispatches the Captain with the flick of a wrist.

Oh, and a Spider-Man Ben Carson makes a last-minute appearance just to ask, "Can somebody attack me, please?"

Editor's note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims -- 1.6 billion members of an entire religion -- from entering the U.S.
