If Holiday Cards Were Really Honest

"We're proud to announce the kids ate broccoli. More than once!"

Around this time of year, parents' mailboxes are filled with a seemingly endless supply of glossy holiday cards and newsletters. These year-end reviews of families' biggest milestones can be fun and informative, but they can also feel a little too perfect.

To provide a more "real" alternative, Plum Organics has developed "Unfiltered Holiday Newsletters," an online card generator that lets parents get hilariously honest. For example, "We're proud to announce the kids ate broccoli. More than once!", "We finally found the source of that awful smell," and "We are grateful for dead batteries in loud toys."

Parents can customize their newsletters by filling out a quick online form and uploading a less-than-picture-perfect family photo. They can share the finished product on social media or save it to print out.

"Plum noticed a lack of conversation about real, complex parental experiences in the perfectly glossy world of holiday cards and newsletters, so they’re offering parents a way to create a Year in Review that’s well … unfiltered," a representative for the company told The Huffington Post, adding, "Because after all, it’s the real moments (even the ones you’d sometimes care to forget!) that make this parenting thing so amazing."

True that!
