The Movie Rick Springfield Wants To Apologize For

The musician and actor said his ego "got the better" of him with "Hard To Hold."

Musicians turning to acting in films can be a dicey game. Even Beyonce, who had us bowing down as per usual with a stunning "Dreamgirls" performance, can drop the ball, as she arguably did with the subpar thriller "Obsessed." Rick Springfield experienced a similar fate with 1984's "Hard to Hold," which was designed to launch the musician into a film career but was panned by critics.

When Springfield dropped by HuffPost Live on Tuesday to discuss his new movie, "Ricki and the Flash," he said he'd like to make amends for his 30-year-old movie.

"I certainly feel that I should apologize for doing 'Hard to Hold,'" Springfield told host Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani while suppressing a laugh.

"That was one point in my life where [my ego] got the better of me," Springfield said. "I remember the first time I read the script, I threw it across the room and said, 'This is garbage.' And then they said, 'Well, we're going to give you this much money.' And I said, 'Oh, I can make this work!'"
