Pulling in a hefty $16 million over the weekend, MGM’s "Carrie" has proven to be an impressive Halloween horror flick. And the man who helped bring it to life was none other than Nicaraguan-American screenwriter Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.

"Carrie", of course, is based off of a famous Stephen King book (which also became a 1976 cult film). And for Roberto, writing a reboot gave him a chance to take the characters in an entirely new direction.

“The original movie is iconic,” he told Fox News Latino. “We’ve done enough new things that people that know this story will want to go on this journey again, and people that don’t know the story will be in for an amazing ride.”

"Carrie" has already impressed the critics, many of whom called out its unique modern twists. And Aguirre-Sacasa is continuing to stay very busy, with a producing and writing gig on Fox’s "Glee".
