President Barack Obama is slated to speak Wednesday on the deal reached by congressional leaders to reopen the government after a 16-day partial shutdown and raise the debt ceiling ahead of the October 17 deadline.

According to the White House, the president will speak at 8:25 p.m. ET.

The bill, unveiled by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) earlier Wednesday, will provide funding for the government through January 15 and raise the debt ceiling until February 7. It passed the Senate by a 81-18 vote.
