Mitt Romney Distances Himself From Aide's Comment That It Would Take An 'Act Of God' To Lose Nomination

Romney Distances Himself From 'Act Of God' Statement

Mitt Romney told Fox News on Thursday morning that he does not agree with his staffer's comment that it would take an "act of God" for either Rick Santorum or Newt Gingrich to secure the GOP nomination for president.

"All we have to do is just keep doing what we're doing; we can get to get to the nomination," a Romney adviser recently told reporters. "Those guys -- it's going to take some sort of act of God to get to where they need to be."

When Fox News' Bill Hemmer asked on Thursday whether he agreed with the comment, Romney replied, "No, no, no."

"I'd say, Look, anybody has a shot at becoming the nominee. We're in a good strong spot at this point," Romney said. "My message of jobs and the economy is what's winning for me."
