Lorde's 'Team' Marks Sleek Third Single From 'Pure Heroine'

Lorde Unveils Her 'Team'

It may seem odd to hear a 16-year-old croon about being "kinda older," but Lorde does it with such gracefulness that we'd believe anything she sings. It's a good thing, too, because the ditty in question -- her new single "Team" -- is a sleek anthem that emphasizes the singer's raspy pipes. The wise-beyond-her-years chanteuse wrote the new track, as she did the entirety of her forthcoming debut album.

"I am in Paris as I release this," Lorde wrote on the single's YouTube page. "Every street we drive down makes my eyes pop with the most incredible things carved in stone, and gilded on pillars, and wrought with metal; the heroes and heroines of this city aren't so hard to find. This song's [sic] are a little more mismatched, less classic courtesans on their pedestals, but nonetheless brilliant. This song is kinda of that world, and at the same time, very much of this one. Enjoy."

"Team" marks the third single from "Pure Heroine," which will see an Oct. 29 release. The singer's breakout hit "Royals" has climbed its way up the Billboard Hot 100, where it currently sits at No. 3. The second release, "Tennis Court," came out in June.
