Attention, New Orleans Hornets fans, you might want to hold off on purchasing your Anthony Davis replica jersey. Apparently, the New Orleans club might not be Hornets for very long.

According to Marcus J. Spears of Yahoo Sports, the Hornets may change their name to the Pelicans as early as the 2013-14 season. Per the report, the team also considered nicknames "Krewe" and "Brass."

Not exactly refuting the report, Hornets spokesman Harold Kaufman told USA Today that the decision to change names is not in the organization's hands.

"Been getting flooded with calls. Telling everyone that any name and color changes are controlled by the NBA and that process has yet to take shape," Kaufman said, via USA Today.

The state of Louisiana is referred to as "The Pelican State" due to the large quantity of Brown Pelicans along the coast, per nestate.com. The Brown Pelican is also the state bird.

But New Orleans Pelicans? Any way they can work out a deal with the Jazz?

Charlotte Bobcats owner Michael Jordan recently told the Charlotte Observer, via the New York Times, that he would be open to changing his team's name back to Hornets should to the New Orleans franchise change its name.
