Detroit Auto Show's Best Cars

Automakers converged on Detroit this week for the annual North American International
Auto Show, where they introduced their latest models and concept cars. Since many of the vehicles won't go into production until 2011 or later, a walk around Detroit's Cobo Center is, for better or worse, a bit like peering into the future.

And based on the Detroit showings, the automobile industry may be undergoing a radical transformation. Likely indicating a shift away from gas-guzzling vehicles, many of the models -- including those produced by American car companies -- utilized hybrid- and electric-car technologies. (The market for energy-alternative cars remains relatively weak, but if strict emissions standards are imposed -- as many automakers anticipate -- demand could soar.)
