Celebrate Amy Poehler's Birthday With A Look Back At Her Early Roles

This Amy Poehler Supercut Will Make Your Day

As Leslie Knope once said, "Every memory deserves to be chronicled -- even the saggy ones." To help Amy Poehler celebrate her birthday today, we've put together some of our favorite Amy memories, going back to her very first roles on TV and in movies.

Before Poehler brought us Kaitlin on "SNL" or Leslie on "Parks," she was all 30 of these characters and more. Amy Poehler was killin' it before we all started paying close attention, so a look back to these memories is in order.

Watch the above video for:

  • Stacey on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" 1996-2000): Poehler played Andy Richter's teenage sister, who was deeply in love with Conan.
  • Poehler's voice acting in "Escape From It's A Wonderful Life" (1996): This Comedy Central TV movie, re-edited the classic Frank Capra film and turned it into something hilarious. Poehler performs alongside Matt Besser and Jay Martel, who does a hilarious George Bailey.
  • Incredible characters on Comedy Central's "Upright Citizens Brigade" sketch show (1998-2000): Poehler had some amazing characters on, but it's hard to beat Mrs. B, the grumpy bus driver, who sits on kids who don't behave, or Cassie, the adorable little girl who develops an unlikely friendship with the Unabomber.
  • Tourette's-afflicted Ruth in "Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo" (1999): "There are some places I can't go -- NIPPLE BITER!"
  • An appearance in the Louis C.K. short film, "Ugly Revenge" (2000): Poehler plays "Pretty Lady" in this hilarious western.
  • Her brief appearance in "Spin City" (1998)
  • The crazed, high-strung occult believer in "Zoe Loses It" (2000): Poehler performs alongside Amanda Peet in this MTV short film. The part allows her to demonstrate an early talent for crazy eyes.
  • The enthusiastic and aggressively flirtatious RA on "Undeclared" (2001-2002)
  • The theater counselor in "Wet Hot American Summer" (2001): "Okay, stop! I feel like I'm watching regional theater, you guys."

Poehler was also in the 1997 MTV show, "Apartment 2F," along with Michael Showalter and Zach Galifianakis. The show was never released on DVD, but this clip featuring Galifianakis, surfaced a few years ago.

Peohler also played "Woman Sprayed with Hose" in Louis C.K.'s unreleased feature, "Tomorrow Night." Apparently, Louie might release the film for download on his website sometime soon.

Happy birthday, Amy! Thanks for many years of hilarity.
