Alec Baldwin Lashes Out At 'Phony' Rachel Maddow, Gay Critics In New Essay

Alec Baldwin Slams Rachel Maddow

Alec Baldwin's New York magazine essay—or confession, or unloading, or rant—about his recent trials and tribulations landed on Sunday night.

The piece comes a few months after his MSNBC show unceremoniously ended in a cloud of scandal following his apology over anti-gay remarks to a photographer.

If Baldwin was looking to quiet the controversy surrounding himself, that aim is not in evidence in the essay. He labels gay journalists who criticized him, such as Anderson Cooper and Andrew Sullivan, as being part of the "Gay Department Of Justice." He then makes references to an "F-to-M tranny," language that is certain to ruffle feathers.

Baldwin also has no kind words for MSNBC. President Phil Griffin "couldn’t give a flying f--k about content." Rachel Maddow is a "phony who doesn’t have the same passion for the truth off-camera that she seems to have on the air," and someone who Baldwin hears engineered his firing from the network.

There are also some barbs thrown at HuffPost, for which Baldwin has frequently blogged over the years.

UPDATE: Maddow issued the following statement in response to Baldwin:

"I have never met Mr. Baldwin, either on-camera or off-camera. I wish him all the best."
