The One Practice That Will Change the World You See

In addition to this email list, I also practice gratitude privately in my morning meditation. I jot down a few things I feel grateful for, and then also write three things I appreciate about my man. Constantly looking for things to appreciate has created even more richness in my relationship.

I remember from my previous experience in the restaurant industry, where the managers would attempt to coach and motivate us at our staff meetings. They would remind us of a study that proved if someone has a positive dining experience they tend to only tell one person, but if they had a bad experience they would tell seven.

This quickness to judge, and tendency to notice our problems with ease; not only inspires our inclination to write a Yelp review, but also shows up as we perceive our life. Our default can be to focus on the negative or opportunity in our experiences, relationships, jobs, and circumstances. These fight or flight responses have been around since we were cavemen, and have once served us. Since now, however, most of us are not running from tigers; there is a call to shift and heal some of our fear based thoughts.

I have a simple tool that I use daily, when I am feeling happy and when I am feeling funky and off.

A daily Gratitude practice.

Committing to this practice helps me set the tone for appreciating and noticing the love, miracles, light, and beauty in my life. I am on a gratitude email list with some women from a spiritual group. Daily, we "reply all" and write about the people, lessons, and events, we feel grateful for. Reading the other lists inspires me and opens my heart to their appreciation. The nature of having this on an email is a great way for me to feel committed to show up for myself, and accountable in keeping our thread full of life and energy.

My gratitude list usually starts simple and then picks up so much momentum; that by the time I'm done writing, I feel elated, excited, and energized. I want to shout: "Wow, my life is F***in' amazing!!!!"

Do you want to see today's list?

-The foggy SF morning
-Living in the Bay Area
-My heart-centered abundant work
-My sobriety
-My soul sisters, local, worldly, old, and brand new
-My awesome boyfriend who shows up and wants to dive deeper with me
-Ever expanding sisterhood
-Enlarging my spiritual life, in so many ways
-That my siblings and I love each other and we all get to hang out this weekend

In addition to this email list, I also practice gratitude privately in my morning meditation. I jot down a few things I feel grateful for, and then also write three things I appreciate about my man. Constantly looking for things to appreciate has created even more richness in my relationship.

Practicing gratitude helps us to view our life and relationships through loving and appreciative lenses; literally changing the world we see. When we elevate our vibrations in that way, we attract more high-vibe experiences to be grateful for.

I invite you all to give yourself this gift too. Perhaps even take the lead, create a thread, and invite people to practice gratitude with you. Let's set the collective intention to have the willingness to notice the good, the blessings, the miracles, and the Light.
