Tucked away in the quiet and green state of Wisconsin is a music festival unlike any other: Infrasound. One of the most tight-knit communities in the festival world, the Infra-family's bond runs deep. Some of the nicest people I have ever encountered, there is a special kind of niceness present in this region of America. With new dates and a new venue, this year promises to be bigger, more elaborate, and warmer than last year's soiree. For those who were unaware, the Midwest knows how to party and as to be expected, every stage will be adorned with Funktion One speakers operated by the legendary Antoine Kattar and Jack Whelan.

Last year the event was in early spring, with slightly colder and wetter weather. This year, the event will take place June 2nd-6th as spring begins to warm up into summer. With more land and room to expand, Infrasound now has the space for grander additions such as art installations. Co-founder of Infrasound, Taylor Winum, discusses the exciting changes for 2016:

After selling out our last four festivals, we knew it was time to find a permanent home to continue our family's growth. Highbridge Hills Disc Golf Course in northern Wisconsin is not only surrounded by some of the most beautiful landscapes in the Midwest, but the support from the property owners and people in the local community has been unprecedented. We are grateful for their trust in our vision and we are 100% positive this will be a game changer year for the festival. From production, to art installations, to workshops, and all the way to the lineup, we can't wait to blow everyone's minds.

Infrasound has always been about the music, boasting some of the strongest lineups in the festival game. This will be the first time since 2012 that Tipper will not grace the lineup, though he does intend on returning to Infrasound 2017. Even sans Tipper, this lineup is mind-melting featuring artists who are equally as talented. Noisia, Shpongle, The Orb, Ott, Eoto, Phutureprimitive, Thriftworks, Kalya Scintilla, Dimond Saints, The Russ Liquid Test, Mr Bill, Space Jesus, and Lafa Taylor along with many others are decorating the bill. Clozee, the up-and-coming French female producer and DJ, is also an act not to be missed as her name has been popping up on festival lineups from California to Costa Rica. Brussels' natives Ganja White Night will also be contributing their beats to Infrasound for the first time.

In addition to a stellar musical lineup, everyone's favorite psychedelic power couple, Alex and Allyson Grey, will be live painting for their Infrasound debut. Dennis McKenna, brother of the famed ethnobotanist and psilocybin enthusiast Terence McKenna, will be a speaker at this event and may even bring a special guest along with him. With so much already planned for Infrasound 2016, there are still some exciting surprises left to be discovered. There is even rumor of a bass music conference leading up to the festival, but that's a story for a different article.
