A Look Black: March On Washington, 1963

This Sunday, August 28, 2011, will mark the 48th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr's epic March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. It was there that the civil rights leader delivered his epic "I Have a Dream" speech, and it will be there that the new Martin Luther King memorial will be unveiled on the National Mall --- right smack between those monuments to Presidents Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson. The event is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of people, but for today's A Look Black, we remember the estimated 250,000 participants who walked, marched, protested, struggled and fought in 1963, in order to make a dream real.
