Man Robs Friends, Is Immediately Identified

The two victims of an armed robbery this weekend welcomed their assailant into the parked car where they sat chatting in Ford Heights, and the three conversed until Victor Holmes, 22, produced a handgun held them up, fleeing with $60 and a cell phone.

According to a police statement, the two men willingly invited Holmes to join them — and later, easily identified him to patrol officers — because they’re longtime friends.

"The victims told investigators they've known Holmes their entire adult lives and saw him enter the vehicle, so they were able to provide a detailed description of his appearance," police said in a news release, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Holmes, of Park Forest, was charged with two counts of armed robbery and appeared in the Markham Courthouse Sunday. He was ordered held in lieu of $500,000 bail, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. The victims told authorities they weren’t sure why their friend robbed them, the release said.
