Amy Winehouse's Chicago Legacy (VIDEO)

WATCH: Amy Winehouse's Chicago Legacy

Earlier Tuesday, oft-troubled, 27-year-old soulful songstress Amy Winehouse, who was found dead in her London home Saturday, was laid to rest in a private London funeral attended by friends Mark Ronson, Kelly Osbourne and ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil. She was later cremated.

Winehouse's passing, arriving after years of struggles with substance abuse, eating disorders and mental health concerns, may not have been necessarily shocking, but the news has nonetheless rocked the music community, including fans and critics alike in Chicago.

Greg Kot of the Chicago Tribune wrote that she, like other members of the so-called "27 Club" (musicians including Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin who all died at the same age as Winehouse) "leaves behind the tragic imponderable of what might have been."

Thomas Conner of the Chicago Sun-Times wrote, in a column titled "We'll never really know singer Amy Winehouse's potential," that the singer would leave behind "just two albums, reams of tabloid tawdriness and, sadly, a legacy of many more videos of drug-addled bad performances than good ones."

And while she may most recently be remembered for her undeniably disastrous live performance last month in Belgrade, as the Beachwood Reporter's Steve Rhodes pointed out, Winehouse also leaves behind a legacy which includes two (admittedly mixed) performances in Chicago: a May 2007 concert at the Vic and a set at Lollapalooza that same year. A third appearance that year was cancelled due to "health issues."

Rhodes has rounded up a selection of reviews and video footage from those appearances which are worth a look for any fan of the singer, whose cause of death remains as of yet unknown.

In addition to the performances Winehouse gave Chicago, it turns out that the city gave her at least one important thing in return: her signature beehive hairstyle, according to Yahoo! Music, which attributes the 'do's debut to a Windy City stylist, Margaret Vinci Heldt. Winehouse reportedly once commented to Vogue: "The more insecure I feel, the bigger my beehive gets."
