Hope Solo, Abby Wambach On Letterman: USA Stars Discuss Loss To Japan (VIDEO)

USA Women's Soccer Stars Stop By Letterman

Days after their crushing loss to Japan in the Women's World Cup Final, USA soccer stars Abby Wambach and Hope Solo joined David Letterman to discuss their experiences in Germany.

The interview proved to be both interesting and entertaining, with Wambach appearing to be a natural in front of the camera, poking fun of Letterman for his lack of soccer knowledge throughout the interview and delivering thoughtful answers. In one of the best moments of the interview, Letterman, noticing that Wambach scored many goals with her head, explained about how he had heard that using one's head in soccer can cause brain damage, at which point the USA star interrupted him, jokingly saying, "I'm sorry, what?"

Goalkeeper Hope Solo spoke with the famous host of Late Night about her injury history as well as the extreme pride she felt in the US team's remarkable come from behind victory against Brazil. "Playing down a man for 65 minutes and coming back and scoring one of the latest goals in World Cup history, it is something to be proud of," said the star player and recipient of the Golden Glove award for being the finest goalkeeper during the tournament. "To have that American fighting spirit, I really think that's why the nation got behind us."
