"It was such a rich year in competition films, so our juries had really tough choices to make," Artistic Director David Ansen told The Hollywood Reporter after the ten day long Los Angeles Film Festival concluded. Awards and prizes were distributed to the season's top contenders at the seventeenth annual celebration hosted by CHAYA Downtown.

The $15,000 prize for The Narrative Award (for Best Narrative Feature) was won by Stephane Lafleur for his film "Familiar Ground," and the $15,000 Documentary Award (for Best Documentary Feature) went to Beverly Kopf and Bobbie Birleffi for "Wish Me Away." One of HuffPost's LA Story selections made the cut -- Amber Sealy's "How to Cheat, won Best Performance in the Narrative Selection.
