Rachel Maddow took time out of her Tuesday show to remember Dr. George Tiller, the Kansas abortion doctor who was murdered almost exactly two years ago on May 31st, 2009.
Maddow has made the Tiller case--and abortion rights in general--a large focus of her MSNBC show. She has documented the curtailing of abortion rights across the country, and she did a special report about Tiller's assassination in 2010. On Tuesday, she chillingly pointed out that, even though the person who killed Tiller is in jail, the anti-abortion forces won in the end.
"Dr. George Tiller was murdered on May 31st, 2009, by an anti-abortion extremist whose goal was to make abortion less available," she said. "And today, two years later, there is no abortion provider in Wichita."
