Westminster Abbey Hosts The Royal Wedding Ceremony (PHOTOS)

Royals Wedding Photos From Westminster Abbey

The wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey has already featured some of the most iconic images in recent royal history.

Consecrated almost 1000 years ago on December 28, 1065, the abbey has hosted coronations and royal weddings for centuries. Though Westminster has been host to ten royal weddings since 1919, it had not previously been used for the ceremony since the 14th century.

Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer were not, in fact, married at Westminster Abbey in 1981, but instead St. Paul's Cathedral in Canterbury. Queen Elizabeth II has married at Westminster.

The abbey's wonderful architecture and exquisite design has provided an incredible venue for this ceremony, which can be seen in the slideshow below.
