The Chicago mayor's race may seem like it's only just heating up, with Rahm Emanuel's candidacy officially ratified last week. But citywide elections are only three weeks away -- and you can already cast your ballot, starting today.
Early voting begins at locations in all 50 wards around the city on Monday. It will be available through Thursday, February 17, in advance of the election on the 22nd.
All locations will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, except for the Lincoln's Birthday holiday on February 11. Three locations -- Welles Park in the 47th Ward, Mount Greenwood Park in the 19th, and the Board of Elections offices downtown -- will be open seven days a week, including the holiday.
Voters need only to be registered, and to provide a valid government-issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, etc.).
You don't even need to vote at the location in your ward; every polling place will have all the different ballots available electronically. "That means you may use the Early Voting site that is most convenient for you if you live in one part of Chicago and work, go to school or run errands in another," said Chicago Board of Elections Chairman Langdon Neal, in a press release.
Check out a map of all the early voting locations, as compiled by Scott VanDenPlas. One change: the 19th Ward is now at Mount Greenwood Park, as mentioned, not at the 22nd Police District as the map shows.
