NY High School Plans To Add Drug Clinic

In just a few short years, the number of cases of students caught possessing drugs or coming to class under the influence at William Floyd High School has doubled.

Now, school officials are proposing addressing the problem by opening an on-campus drug clinic to offer help to students, according to NBC New York.

The clinic, which would be the first of its kind in the state of New York, remains a controversial plan.

The clinic would be run by nonprofit organization Daytop Outreach and would provide counseling services. Since it will be run by the nonprofit, the school district wouldn't have to pay for the clinic.

CBS New York reports,

"Parents have been begging us for help. We now have something that we really feel can assist their kids," Floyd School District Superintendent Paul Casciano said.
