Slain Aid Worker Linda Norgrove's Family Founds Charity In Her Honor

Earlier this month, Linda Norgrove, a British aid worker kidnapped in Afghanistan, was killed during the scuffle as NATO forces attempted to rescue her from her insurgent captors.

Initial reports said that Norgrove was killed as a suicide bomber detonated an explosive, but a later military investigation showed that she may have been killed by a grenade thrown by a U.S. soldier, according to The Telegraph.

The Norgrove family has announced they will found a humanitarian organization in honor of their daughter.

CNN reports the Norgroves have given $100,000 to start a charity named after Linda. The organization will provide humanitarian assistance to Afghans.

Linda's mother explained,

"She'd grown to love Afghanistan and love the people, and I knew that's where her heart was and she wanted to do humanitarian work there."
