Forget Mosquitoes! This Is How 'Jurassic World' Actually Brought Dinosaurs To Life

This Is How 'Jurassic World' Actually Brought Dinosaurs To Life

According to paleontologists, bringing actual dinosaurs back from the dead today is probably not going to happen, but "Jurassic World" found a way.

As you can see in the video, rather than rely on dinosaur DNA found in dug up mosquitoes, the team at Legacy Effects used 3-D models, molding, robotics and more to create the lifelike movement in the apatosaurus. For the movie, these practical effects were used in combination with CGI to help make the dinosaurs appear real. And judging by the movie's record-setting opening weekend, it seems like they've done a pretty good job.

In fact, the only problem with the apatosaurus seems to be that it's only a neck and head, meaning Samuel L. Jackson should probably refrain from saying, "Hold onto your butts." That might be offensive.
