'Shoe Giver Of Tampa': Teenager Jacob Rice Brings Shoes To Needy Children

Four years ago, an eager 10-year-old Florida boy was looking for a way to help his community.

According to AOL News,

"My motivation at the age of 10 was to make a difference," said the Floridian, now 14. He called the local Corporation to Develop Communities and asked what Tampa children needed. They needed shoes, so Rice got them shoes.

Since then, AOL News reports Jacob Rice has helped put 1,300 shoes on the feet of children in need in America and abroad.

Rice founded Shoe Giver of Tampa, a nonprofit he uses to collect donations and coordinate his charitable efforts.

The 14-year-old also met Wayne Elsey, the founder and CEO of Soles4Souls, a five-year-old Nashville-based charity that has distributed shoes to people in 125 countries. Elsey has helped to mentor Rice and partner with him to hand out shoes.

In August, Soles4Souls pitched in for Rice's back-to-school drive, putting new shoes on the feet of Tampa children.
