How This Holocaust Survivor Regained His Faith After The War

Holocaust survivor Ben Lesser grew up in an orthodox religious home in Poland; but because of the war's atrocities that killed his family, he questioned God and lost his faith.

Lesser, who is the founder of the Zachor Foundation, explained to host Josh Zepps that he regained his faith when the state of Israel was founded 1948. The loss of six million Jews was an "terrible price to pay," Lesser said, "but there would never have been an Israel had here not been a Holocaust."

"Look at us, look how the Jewish people developed throughout the world and they're prospering and the beautiful democratic country like Israel and all of its science and technology," Lesser said. "My god. So obviously, I regained my faith."
