2. “Every time she says ‘that's for boys’ (it is inevitable in society) stop dead in your tracks and go do that thing. Don't raise her in preparation of men. Instill independence, individuality, and strength... Oh and do the dishes, laundry, cooking, yard work, give mom a break, play in the mud, collect bugs, amphibians, and lizards, buy a trampoline and a baby pool, a dog, acquire multiple cats, drive with the windows down and let Sam Cooke sing. Read to her, let her rip your beard apart, support her interests, ask her questions, thoroughly answer hers.” -- Stephen Hood

3. “Let her be who she is. Answer her questions to the best of your knowledge. Be real with her about life. The good and bad. Hold her when she cries. Enjoy every moment.” -- Graham Isaacson

5. “You now have the honor and pleasure of raising your daughters to be strong, brave, and awesome (and to love football and Star Wars).” -- Michael Marcinko

6. "Enjoy the here and now... When she is born, your heart will pump up with so much love for her, that you won't be able to hold it in. But, you will also have this overriding fear of how you will protect her and keep her safe in this messed up world. You will worry about the future and the challenges she (and you) will face. My best advice to you... Stop that. Enjoy the here and now. When the time comes for those challenges, you'll know what to do. But for right now, enjoy who she is at this moment.” -- Charles D. Johnson

8. “Hug her. Kiss her. Let her know how much she means to you from day one. Then let her dictate her interests. Show her that a dad is someone to come to for comfort and that her choices for herself are as valuable and important as the choices you make for yourself.” -- Mike Reynolds

9. “Ask your wife what she missed from her father growing up. Chances are that's what your new daughter wants from you. It will grow intimacy with you and your wife as you ask her that question. And in turn will better prepare you to love your daughter.” -- Darrell Humphrey

11. “Teach her love and respect, not just for others. But for herself as well. Show her how a man should treat a woman by your example with your wife. As she gets older teach her that not all things or people are safe, teach her to have the goodd judgment to tell the difference. Butt most important make sure she knows that no matter what happens in her life no matter what she does, you are always going to be there for her. And you always love her. Enjoy it while you can because it goes by fast. But its a wonderful time.” -- David Bower

12. “Hold on tight and don't blink -- it's going to be the most wonderful ride of your life.” -- John Snider
