Sean Penn Committed To What He Started Six Months After Haiti Quake (VIDEO)

Actor Sean Penn rushed to Haiti six months ago after the massive 7.0 earthquake struck the small country, leaving between 220,000 and 330,000 dead. Today, about 1.5 million are still homeless. Since his arrival Penn has built a relief organization to help tens of thousands survive and has committed to stay in Haiti to finish what he started. He shared his experiences in an exclusive video on "The Early Show" early Monday.

"In our case, we came down with the idea of spending two weeks and trying to help out, said Penn. "There's something that takes over and it's really an obligation because you see the strength of the people who have never experienced comfort, and the gifts that that can give to people like myself and to our country and culture. You see the enormous gaps."

As the country heads into hurricane season, long term relief efforts are more important than ever. Penn has been applauded by many for his ability to break down the bureaucracy of the UN, as well as take a leadership role in such a tough situation. He hopes others will join in the fight to piece Haiti back together, and believes that every little bit can make a difference.
