THURSDAY, JUNE 24
Mackey Garage Renovation and Fractional Systems: Garage Project II Opening
Mackey Apartments (Mid-Wilshire)
7-9pm
The Mackey Apartments (1939) will be opened to celebrate Space International Architects' 2008-2010 remodeling and addition to the Mackey garages. The opening for Garage Project II, curated by Peter Noever, Director MAK Vienna, brings together well-known artists and architects from Vienna and L.A. including Raymond Pettibon, Franz Graf, Hernán Diáz Alonso, Elke Krystufek, and the next ENTERprise. Featuring a brand new second floor project space dubbed the "Garage Top," the five newly rebuilt and enhanced garage units will be the setting for site-responsive interventions and a video program, featuring works by Judy Fiskin, Claudia Kugler, Sonia Leimer, Tina Schulz, and Nadim Vardag, selected for the occasion by John Baldessari and Heinrich Dunst and Peter Kogler. Admission is free.

FRIDAY, JUNE 25
Dwell on Design
L.A. Convention Center (Downtown)
Dwell on Design is the West Coast's largest design event, hosted by Dwell magazine. The weekend will feature an exhibition of the latest modern design ideas from a range of product categories, as well as presentations from speakers on the topics of sustainability and design innovation. Dwell also presents a series of self-driven home tours, highlighting the architectural landmarks of Los Angeles as well as the newer innovations in design, professional education programming, and opportunities to shop and take the designs you love home.

SATURDAY, JUNE 26
de LaB's City Listening II
Spring Arts Tower (Downtown)
7-10pm
A fundraiser for de LaB (Design East of La Brea), the night's events will include stories about Los Angeles, read by some of the city's most entertaining characters, including Frances Anderton, John Chase, Zach Frechette, Christopher Hawthorne, Brooke Hodge and Chris Nichols. The night will begin with cocktails and include a silent art and design auction. All ticket and auction proceeds will go towards de LaB's latest initiatives.

John Baldessari: Foot and Stocking (With Big Toe Exposed), 2010
Gemini G.E.L. (West Hollywood)
4-7pm
Gemini G.E.L. presents the opening reception for the artist and a booksigning with John Baldessari on the occasion of his exhibition Foot and Stocking (With Big Toe Exposed), 2010 six screenprints with fabric and paper collage. The artist will be signing copies of his newly released publication John Baldessari: A Catalogue Raisonne of Prints and Multiples, 1971-2001 the first comprehensive study of John Baldessari's print work and multiples. ForYourArt and Ovation will preview the new iPhone/iPad application In Still Life 2001-2010, an interactive artwork by John Baldessari. Please RSVP

SUNDAY, JUNE 27
John Baldessari: Pure Beauty
LACMA (Mid-Wilshire)
8-10pm
Opening for John Baldessari's retrospective. With humor and irony, John Baldessari dissects the ideas underlying artistic practice and questions the historically accepted rules of how to make art. Beginning with his little-known paintings from the early 1960s, Pure Beauty features the landmark photo and text works from 1966-68, photocompositions derived from film stills of the 1980s, irregularly shaped and over-painted works of the 1990s, and video and artist books. The show ends with Baldessari's most recent work, including a multimedia installation conceived for the retrospective.
