Canadian Hockey Fans Rescue U.S. National Anthem, Prove They're The Nicest

A stadium-full of Canadian fans showed some real neighborly sportsmanship this week when they raised their voices in unison to finish the U.S. national anthem after technical difficulties interrupted a performance of the song.

A singer had been belting out “The Star-Spangled Banner” before Tuesday’s game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Nashville Predators when her microphone suddenly cut out.

An awkward silence filled the Air Canada Centre, but it didn’t last long.

Within seconds, thousands of Maple Leafs fans began singing as one, picking up where the singer had left off and finishing the anthem.

The Maple Leafs have been called the “worst sports franchise in North America,” but fans of the team have consistently managed to rank as some of the best supporters in the league.

We can certainly see why.
