CALIFORNIA GOP Senate Primary:
Meg Whitman, the billionaire former chief executive of eBay, easily won the race for the Republican gubernatorial nomination, setting up a general election contest against former Gov. Jerry Brown. Brown, governor from 1975-83, was unopposed in the Democratic primary.
Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina has won California's GOP primary for U.S. Senate, setting up a general election battle this fall with three-term Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer. (AP)

SOUTH CAROLINA GOP Governor's Primary:
Nikki Haley has weathered unsubstantiated claims of physical relationships with two men to advance to a Republican primary runoff with U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett. Haley nearly won Tuesday's primary outright, but fell just short of the majority needed to avoid the June 22 runoff. The winner will face Democratic state Sen. Vincent Sheheen in November. (AP)
SOUTH CAROLINA Democratic Governor's Primary:
An unemployed military veteran has stunned South Carolina Democratic Party leaders by winning the nomination to challenge Republican U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint. Thirty-two-year-old Alvin Greene of Manning defeated 64-year-old Vic Rawl of Charleston in Tuesday's primary. Rawl is a former judge and legislator, who had about $186,000 cash available and had already scheduled a fundraising event for Thursday. (AP)
SOUTH CAROLINA GOP Congressional Primary:
Rep. Bob Inglis and Spartanburg County Solicitor Trey Gowdy will advance to a runoff GOP primary on June 22, the AP reports. Gowdy took more votes than the six-term congressman but neither claimed a majority of the vote. (AP/Politico)
SOUTH CAROLINA GOP Congressional Primary
South Carolina's lone black Republican state representative is heading to a GOP runoff against the son of one of the state's most noted politicians to fill an open coastal congressional seat. Charleston state Rep. Tim Scott got the most votes Tuesday to advance to the June 22 runoff. He faces Paul Thurmond, a Charleston County councilman and son of late U.S. Sen. Strom Thurmond
GEORGIA Special Election Runoff:
Republican Tom Graves has been elected to the U.S. House in a special election runoff in Georgia. The 40-year-old Graves will fill the remainder of Nathan Deal's term that runs through the end of the year. Deal stepped down earlier this year to seek the Republican nomination for Georgia governor. Graves ran with support from the Atlanta Tea Party Patriots, the anti-tax group Club for Growth and Eric Cantor, the No. 2 Republican in the U.S. House. (AP)
VIRGINIA GOP Congressional Primary Results:
State Sen. Robert Hurt took almost half the votes to win the primary in Virginia's 5th District. The lone GOP House member to face opposition, Rep. Rob Wittman, easily brushed aside a challenge from the right in Catherine Crabill. In the 11th District, Keith Fimian won the GOP primary to reprise his unsuccessful 2008 race against freshman Democratic Rep. Gerry Connolly. Virginia Beach businessman Scott Rigell, a close ally of Gov. Bob McDonnell, won the Republican U.S. House primary in Virginia's 2nd District to challenge Democratic Rep. Glenn Nye this fall. And in the 8th District, Patrick Murray won a tight race over Matthew Berry in a battle between two Republican newcomers. Murray faces 10-term Democratic Rep. Jim Moran in the heavily Democratic Washington, D.C., suburbs of Arlington and Alexandria. (AP)
SOUTH DAKOTA GOP Gubernatorial Primary:
Lt. Gov. Dennis Daugaard has won a five-way primary in South Dakota to become the Republican Party's candidate for governor. Daugaard now moves on to the November election to face Senate Democratic Leader Scott Heidepriem of Sioux Falls. Heidepriem didn't have opposition for his party's nomination.
IOWA Democratic Senatorial Primary:
Des Moines lawyer Roxanne Conlin has won the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate, setting up a race with five-term Republican Sen. Charles Grassley. (AP)
IOWA GOP Congressional Primary:
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Republicans in Iowa's 3rd Congressional District have nominated Brad Zaun to face seven-term Democratic incumbent Rep. Leonard Boswell. Zaun won the crowded race over six other candidates, easily topping Jim Gibbons and Dave Funk. Four other candidates were far back. Iowa's 3rd District covers 12 counties in central, southern and eastern Iowa. It includes Des Moines. (AP)
ARKANSAS Democratic Senatorial Primary
Sen. Blanche Lincoln has fended off a union-backed challenger and anti-establishment sentiment to win a runoff for Arkansas' Democratic Senate nomination. Lincoln defeated union-backed Lt. Gov. Bill Halter on Tuesday. She'll face Republican congressman John Boozman in the Nov. 2 general election.
NEVADA Democratic Senatorial Primary
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid easily overpowered a field of little-known Democratic challengers Tuesday to win the party's nomination for a fifth, six-year term.
NEVADA GOP Gubernatorial Primary
Former U.S. District Court Judge Brian Sandoval defeated incumbent Gov. Jim Gibbons in Nevada's Republican gubernatorial race Tuesday night. Gibbons had been considered a long-shot to win his party's nomination for a second term, after trailing badly in polls and finances to Sandoval.
NEVADA Democratic Gubernatorial Primary:
Rory Reid, the son of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, has won Nevada's Democratic gubernatorial primary. He will take on the winner of the Republican primary battle, where incumbent Gov. Jim Gibbons is fighting for a chance to run for a second term. Former federal judge Brian Sandoval has been leading Gibbons by double digits in polls and has a huge advantage on campaign financing. IOWA Democratic Gubernatorial Primary
Republicans have nominated former Gov. Terry Branstad to run against Democratic Gov. Chet Culver. Branstad defeated Sioux City businessman Bob Vander Plaats and state Rep. Rod Roberts of Carroll to claim the Republican nomination and a bid for a fifth term in office. Branstad served as governor from 1983 to 1999.
