These Guys Sent A Burger And Fries High Into The Stratosphere

That’s one small step for hamburger, and one giant leap for sandwich kind.

Using an enormous balloon, plenty of helium, a GPS transponder and a parachute, a group of guys who run a burger joint in London sent one of their burgers and a side of fries to where, apparently, no burger and fries combo has ever gone before.

“We sent a burger and chips to space. For no good reason,” the owners of Chosen Bun wrote in the video description.

(Actually, if you’re going to be technical about it, the burger only made it to the stratosphere, but we're still impressed; this burger’s pretty high up there.)

“Unidentified Frying Object,” joked one Redditor Friday after watching the clip.

“This burger has accomplished more than I ever will in my life,” quipped another.

In 2012, a group of Harvard students sent a burger into the stratosphere. They said at the time that it was the "first hamburger in space." It wasn't accompanied by fries, though, and it was shellacked.
