Melissa Etheridge Talks Sex After 50 And Why She's Feeling 'Very Lusty' Lately

Why Melissa Etheridge Is Feeling 'Very Lusty' After 50

As Melissa Etheridge perused the reviews of her latest album, "This Is M.E.," she found a common description of her new songs: "Melissa Etheridge is very lusty."

She understands where that assessment comes from. The singer-songwriter, who recently said that sex is better after 50, told HuffPost Live's Ricky Camilleri on Friday that Barnes & Noble didn't want to play one of her new songs -- "a song about driving home and wanting to have sex with your wife" -- in the store because it was "too overt."

And that's alright with Etheridge, who seems to be having the time of her life in her new marriage to Linda Wallem, a co-creator of the Showtime series "Nurse Jackie." The pair wed in May of this year, just days after they both turned 53 on their shared birthday, and their chemistry is part of what Etheridge said makes intimacy even more exciting later in life.

"One, it's the current relationship. The partner definitely has a big part of that," Etheridge said. "Also, after 50, you know what you like. You're more comfortable with it. You've done it. It's not so weird ... And I am more comfortable in my own sexuality now."
