Watching This Giant Leech Swallow A Worm Will Make Your Skin Crawl

A monstrous, worm-gobbling leech in Borneo is getting its close-up -- whether we like it or not.

In video footage that's both nauseating and fascinating, a BBC documentary shows the leech swallowing a worm whole, "like spaghetti." The leech's slurping only adds to the ickiness. Just check it out above.

The locals call the creature simply Giant Red Leech. The one in the clip, part of the BBC's "Wonders of the Monsoon," is more than a foot-and-a-half long, the Telegraph reported, and swallows a worm well over 2 feet long.

The leech reportedly has yet to be classified by scientists. But as the documentary's director, Paul Williams, told The Telegraph about making the movie, "The result is that we could confirm the predatory behavior of a rarely-seen and unidentified species for the first time."
