Paul LePage Election Results: Maine Governor Wins Another Term

Maine Gov. Paul LePage (R) defeated Rep. Mike Michaud (D-Maine) and independent Eliot Cutler in the state's high-profile gubernatorial contest Tuesday.

Michaud, who was first elected to Congress in 2002, was running to become the first openly gay man ever elected as governor of a state. LePage was considered one of the nation's most vulnerable governors ahead of Tuesday's election.

Democrats seized on some of LePage's past comments to argue that he was an embarrassment to the state, while Republicans countered by saying that the governor was simply being candid.
