'A Ray Rice Inspired Makeup Tutorial' Perfectly Captures The Messed Up Reactions To Domestic Violence In The NFL

Ray Rice-Inspired Makeup Tutorial Is The Perfect Response To A Terrible Situation

"The first step, as always, is foundation. I'm using a new shade I just got called 'The NFL.' I really like this color, because it'll cover up anything."

That's how Megan MacKay, a comedian and videoblogger, starts her "Ray Rice Inspired Makeup Tutorial" -- a scathing video in response to the former Ravens player's recent domestic abuse "scandal."

In the video, MacKay addresses how the NFL handled the situation ("don't forget to throw on some mascara, I'm using [the color] 'mismanaged rage'"), along with the pushback from Rice supporters and victim-blaming responses.

"When you put on a wedding ring, the guy can do anything he wants to you -- and it's automatically your fault. Say he knocked you out cold in an elevator and then everyone found out about it. And people started blaming you, because you put on the wedding ring, so you were kind of asking for it, you know?"

MacKay also reminds us that we can do better to help victims of domestic violence, rather than questioning why they stayed with an abuser.
