Surfacing on YouTube on Wednesday, Paul McCartney's latest song also doubles as the soundtrack to a new video game called "Destiny." Recorded at London's Abbey Road Studios, "Hope For The Future" is backed by a 120-piece orchestra. The New York Times reported that McCartney had been working on the score for the game on and off for the last four years with Bungie, Marty O'Donnell and Mike Salvatori.

In 2012, McCartney tweeted that he would be working with Bungie, calling it "the studio that made Halo," but didn't reveal how exactly they would collaborate. "There was no check involved, big or otherwise," Eric Osbourne, Bungie's community manager, said of McCartney's involvement in an interview with Vulture. "He's in it for the creativity." McCartney also intends to release "Hope For The Future" as a single.
