GreatNonprofits and GuideStar have launched the 2010 Women's Empowerment Campaign, in partnership with Kiva, the National Organization for Women, the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology, MADRE, Wider Opportunities for Women, Dress for Success, Women's Media Center, Women News Network, Women's Philanthropy -- Women's Issues and World Pulse to identify top-rated nonprofits focusing on women's issues.

Every organization that gathers 10 or more positive reviews during the month of May will make the GreatNonprofits' Top-Rated Women's Empowerment Nonprofits List.

So far there are 93 nonprofits reviewed.

One nonprofit reviewed by its clients is the Jeannette Rankin Women's Scholarship Fund, in Athens, GA, which provides scholarships to low-income women who are age 35 and older.

"The Jeannette Rankin Foundation has helped me pursue my goal of obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education," wrote Karen4Kids. "Mid-life I decided to change my career but hesitated to do so because of the cost. The (f)oundation helped me obtain funding by awarding me scholarships that have made my dream of becoming a teacher possible. What a wonderful, empowering organization!!!"

An organization reviewed by volunteers is Be The Star You Are! in Moraga, Calif. "Be the Star You Are! is a small, grassroots charity that delivers big time results," wrote volunteer hilary 1. "Almost all of the charity's volunteers are teenagers who are gaining leadership skills while they give their time and energy to fulfilling the mission of the Be the Star You Are!, which is distributing positive books and media to at-risk youth and women in the community."

These and other nonprofits highlighted during the 2010 Women's Empowerment Campaign have the opportunity of making the GreatNonprofits' Top-Rated Women's Empowerment Nonprofits List, to be announced at the end of the campaign.

So now, it's your chance to chime in.

Share your experience -- how are these organizations having an impact? Which ones are great? Which ones need some improvement? Your participation in this campaign helps identify the nonprofits that are making a difference for women.
