The good news is that cops in Port St. Lucie, Florida, may have found your lost cat. The bad news is that it might be inside a 12-foot Burmese python.
Police caught the 120-pound snake in an empty lot on Friday. Sergeant John Holman of the Port St. Lucie Police Department spotted the animal and immediately called for backup, according to WPEC.
According to WTSP, officers said a dead cat was found nearby, and that neighbors said the snake had been eating missing cats.
Burmese pythons were banned in Florida in 2012, and it's illegal to own them without a special permit, WPEC reports. Cops said the animal in question belongs to a man who lives in the area. No charges have been filed in the case.

Pythons are an invasive species in Florida, where researchers believe they are eating their way through populations of native mammals in the Everglades. No one knows exactly how many pythons there are here, but the population likely developed from pets released into the wild.
The snakes lay between 20–80 eggs every spring, according to the Christian Science Monitor.
