Jeb Bush: Trump 'Not A Serious Candidate,' But I’d Vote For Him

Bush says Trump is "misinformed at best and preying on people's fears at worst.”

WASHINGTON -- Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, a Republican presidential candidate, attacked billionaire eccentric Donald Trump as being “uninformed” and criticized the press for giving him attention for “saying outrageous things.”

“Look, I just think he's uninformed,” Bush said on CBS’ "Face the Nation" on Sunday. “He knows what he's saying. He's smart. He's playing you guys like a fiddle -- the press -- by saying outrageous things and garnering attention. That's his strategy, is to dominate the news. The simple fact is that he's been wrong on Syria and on the refugees pretty consistently. And no one's holding him to account."

Bush further stated that Trump, the current front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, is “not a serious candidate,” and “misinformed at best and preying on people's fears at worst.”

Over the past two weeks, some Republicans, including Bush and fellow presidential candidate Gov. John Kasich of Ohio, have rallied to attack Trump after comments he made following the Nov. 13 Paris terror attacks in which he called for the closure of mosques and voiced support for a federal database to track Muslims.

When asked Sunday whether he would vote for Trump if he won the party’s nomination, Bush said, “Anybody is better than Hillary Clinton. Let me just be clear about that.”

But it sounds like Bush doesn’t think Trump will get that far.

“I'll let the voters decide about Donald Trump,” he said. “I'm pretty confident that the more they hear of him, the less likely he's going to get the Republican nomination.”
