Instead Of Being On The Menu, These Turkeys Get Their Own Feast

"The turkeys are the guests of honor, and not the food."

As you can see in this video, turkeys gobble gobble gobbled down baked acorn squash, kale salad and pumpkin pie at Farm Sanctuary's 29th annual Celebration for the Turkeys.

Feathery rescued animals eat first at this yearly feast, held at Farm Sanctuary's shelter in upstate New York -- fed by adorable kids, who are encouraged to get to know turkeys as the friendly, curious individuals they are, with the aim of working toward a more compassionate future for these and other animals.

"Instead of having Thanksgiving dinner be a turkey as a meal, we're actually celebrating the life of a turkey," Susie Coston, Farm Sanctuary's national shelter director, told The Huffington Post. "The turkeys are the guests of honor, and not the food."
