Beatles fans will have the chance to bid on a set of unpublished photos of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, taken just two days before Lennon was assassinated.
Nate D. Sanders Auctions is auctioning off a collection of unpublished negatives taken by BBC producer and photographer Paul Williams. The images were taken during one of Lennon's final interviews on Dec. 6, 1980. It took place just two days before the Beatle was shot and killed by Mark David Chapman outside his home in New York City. The interview was conducted by DJ Andy Peebles for the BBC and came to be known as the Last Lennon Tapes (now available in book form on Amazon).
The photos were also taken right before Annie Leibovitz shot Lennon and Ono for their cover of Rolling Stone magazine (the same day as Lennon's death). That cover, which shows a naked Lennon clinging to Ono on their bed, went on to become one of the most memorable in the magazine's history.
The photos taken by Williams offer a small, intimate glimpse of the music legend's life before death.
