This Video Reminds Us Why We Need The Women's Movement

There's been so much controversy surrounding the other F-word -- from multiple celebrities coming out as feminists to "leaning in" in the workplace -- that sometimes we forget what it actually stands for.

Inspired by the "Who Needs Feminism" campaign, YouTube user Neyasaur created a photo montage of people holding up signs explaining why they each need feminism. (Quick reminder, a feminist is "a person who believes in the social, political and economic equality of the sexes.") The reasons ranged from personal testimonies of sexual harassment to everyday sexism found in classrooms, at home and in the workplace.

The video is a bit fast for some of the longer accounts, but it's worth pausing to read each and every one. While the women's movement has made some very crucial progress, these personal stories remind us that feminism is not only important, but absolutely necessary.
