Usually when something breaks, it is not a good thing.
But in the case of an on-field sprinkler at Parkview Field, something breaking opened the door for a little bit of fun at the game.
Earlier this week during a minor league baseball game between the Fort Wayne TinCaps and the Great Lakes Loons, TinCaps' infielder Fernando Perekz stepped on a sprinkler while chasing a pop-fly in foul territory and instantly sent a stream of water shooting into the air.
Typically, this wouldn't be a great thing. Especially in the world of baseball, where fields are treated with the utmost care. Fortunately there were some excited schoolchildren in the crowd to keep things in perspective: a spontaneous sprinkler is awesome, and it was celebrated.
As it should be.
