Can You Help Olympian Shani Davis Find His Superfan in Japan?

I was surprised, to say the least, when during a recent Q&A Olympian Shani Davis mentioned that the person he'd most like to meet is a kid, a young superfan of his in Japan.

When celebrities are asked, "if you could meet anyone, who would it be and why" they usually give some harmless, yet terribly predictable, PR-friendly answer: the president, some iconic actor, singer or musician; i.e. someone more famous than they are. Of course there's nothing wrong with that. It's simply worth noting that it's not often that a public figure picks a non-public figure to be the subject of his admiration. So I was surprised, to say the least, when during a recent Q&A Olympian Shani Davis mentioned that the person he'd most like to meet is a kid, a young superfan of his in Japan. The anonymous fan has shown up to cheer Davis on at his races there, sending him handwritten notes and small presents of encouragement, but has so far never had the chance to meet his hero. Davis mentioned that he'd love to meet him the next time he visits the country -- one of his favorites -- but said he is unsure of exactly how to track him down.

Which brings me to you, fabulous Huffington Post readers. I told Davis that I would do what I can to spread the word. So here it is: me spreading the word.

So what can you do to help? Well for starters, if you have any sort of ties to Japan, particularly the media there, please share the link to this story, and my original interview with him, which gives a couple of more details (see question 13).

Next, if someone actually thinks they may have a lead, please share with Team Davis, which can be contacted at www.shanidavis.org

Lastly, if you have other ideas for how to help locate the anonymous young superfan, please share them in the Huff Post comments section. Between all of our combined brainpower, not to mention the power of the net, maybe we can make this young superfan's dream come true.
