Authorities in Washington State have located the body of an off-duty Army soldier who disappeared while hiking in the 91,000-acre Capitol State Forest.
According to the Thurston County Sheriff's Office, the body of 20-year-old Christopher Dombroski was found at about 10 a.m. Tuesday, in an area of Capitol Peak, the highest peak in the Black Hills.
Dombroski, a solider from Joint Base Lewis-McChord, was last heard from about 8:30 p.m. Sunday night.
"My daughter is his fiancee and when she didn't hear from him, she called his mom and that is when his mom reported him missing," Windy Egan told The Huffington Post.
Searchers early Tuesday found Dombroski's motorcycle parked on a road near Capitol Peak, not far from where his body was ultimately discovered, police said.
Investigators have yet to comment on a cause of death. However, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office said the death is not suspicious. The investigation, according to the spokesperson, has been turned over to the Gray's Harbor County Sheriff's Office.
According to Egan, Dombroski and her daughter, Chelsea Egan, were to be wed on Aug. 2.
