Daily Show's Aasif Mandvi Tossed From AHIP Conference, Returns As Batman (VIDEO)

Last week, our own Sam Stein reported that a crew from "The Daily Show" was out at the Ritz Carlton hotel, interviewing attendees of last week's AHIP meeting. Last night, viewers got to see the fruits of those labors.

"Daily Show" correspondent Aasif Mandvi -- drawing on the health care experience he gleaned from acting in three episodes of "ER" -- was at the conference, making a good faith effort to interview various health insurance providers. Apparently, the good people of AHIP didn't cotton to Mandvi's antics. And all he wanted to do was to demonstrate how much the industry was suffering under the weight of a mere 12% increase in profits (which led to a 39% increase in premiums). After several attempts to talk to attendees, Mandvi was bounced from the conference.

The good news is that he'd planned for such a development, and made several attempts to re-enter the conference, in guises that he figured were more amenable to the environment, such as Captain Moneybags, Patch Adams, and Batman. Of the last costume, perhaps he would have gained entry if he had gone with Dark Knight chic, instead of retro-Adam West era weeds. Anyway, BOOM! THWACK! Insurance companies are ripping you off!
