Some have spoken out against Woody Allen in the wake of Dylan Farrow's sex abuse allegations, but Scarlett Johansson is not one of them.
In her Feb. 1 open letter in the New York Times, Farrow wrote about the alleged abuse that happened when she was a little girl in 1992. She called out Allen's co-stars and collaborations, whom have remained silent on the allegations, including Johansson.
But during an interview with the Guardian published Saturday, March 15, Johansson broke her silence.
"I think it's irresponsible to take a bunch of actors that will have a Google alert on and to suddenly throw their name into a situation that none of us could possibly knowingly comment on," she said. "That just feels irresponsible to me."
"I'm unaware that there's been a backlash," she continued. "I think he'll continue to know what he knows about the situation, and I'm sure the other people involved have their own experience with it. It's not like this is somebody that's been prosecuted and found guilty of something, and you can then go, 'I don't support this lifestyle or whatever.' I mean, it's all guesswork."
When asked if it will impact their relationship, she responded: "I don't know anything about it. It would be ridiculous for me to make any kind of assumption one way or the other."
Johansson has appeared in three of Allen's films: "Match Point," "Scoop" and "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," and has been dubbed one of his many female muses.
After Farrow's open letter was published, many offered their support. Lena Dunham called her "courageous," while Ronan Farrow defended his sister, saying "her words speak for themselves."
Allen has since denied the allegations against him.
