Mike Huckabee: Second Amendment Is 'Last Resort' To Protect Other Freedoms

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) weighed in on the importance of the Second Amendment during his remarks at the 2014 Conservative Political Action Conference.

"I know that the Second Amendment is the only last resort we have in this country to protect all of the other freedoms that we enjoy, and God help us if we ever forget that," Huckabee said Friday.

Huckabee shared a list of what he knows during his speech, lambasting the government for "picking everything from [kids'] menu from where they go to school."

"There’s something wrong when the government kidnaps children from their own families," Huckabee said.

He called the IRS a "cancer" and criticized former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton over her remarks on the 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. He also said Republicans need to focus on leading and not battling one another.

"And I know this. I know that this is a time when conservatives need to focus on how we will lead America, not just how we will bleed each other in the context of our conservative world," Huckabee added.
